Training and development

The National Skills Academy for Nuclear

More power to you. That’s the philosophy behind British Energy’s training and development. As a learning organisation, where continuous improvement leads to organisational excellence, we want you to be inspired and engaged; to raise your own standards and those of others; and to continually improve your personal performance.

A number of our sites have gained interim accreditation for their training programmes, judged in a rigorous assessment by the independent Training Standards and Accreditation Board. British Energy has also won the Institute of Physics Best Practice in Professional Development Award.

To get you started, we’ll give you an in-depth introduction to the company, our standards and expectations. And from bespoke graduate training programmes to leadership development, enhanced technical training through to health and safety awareness, we’ll support you in your quest for knowledge. Of course, learning shouldn’t be confined to workshops and seminars. Far from it. Working alongside experts in a dynamic, innovative environment, you’ll find yourself adding to your knowledge each and every day.

What’s more, most British Energy sites have on-site learning centres, where you’ll have access to a broad range of computer-based programmes, including site inductions, specific role-related technical training, and personal skills development.

You’ll also receive regular appraisals and performance reviews, ensuring that your contribution, performance and personal/team objectives are regularly reviewed between yourself and your line manager, and that actions are agreed to improve and develop your performance.
